Frog Health Check
How to...? guide on maintaining a healthy, engaging and relevant Frog environment.
Frog Health Check
Making the most of your Frog platform is an ongoing process and after using Frog for a while many schools and preschools find that it is worth spending some time reflecting on Frog as part of their digital environment. This can be done at any time, but often the time between the end of a year and the start of a new one is an appropriate time to carry out any housekeeping on the platform, review and your Frog Action plan, and make some new goals with Frog. Below are list of activities that should be completed, checked or reviewed to ensure your Frog environment is ready for the new year.
- End of year process: The end of an academic year often triggers significant changes in data with potentially new users being created, and old users needing to be archived and changes to group memberships. It is prudent to be aware of what to expect in terms of how Frog will manage these changes in data in order to perform some spot checks to ensure that a successful transition has taken place. Therefore, many Frog sites take End of year as an opportunity to carry out housekeeping on the platform, and review usage etc. Within Frog learn, there are several areas that may require attention as part of an End of year process:
- Users
- Groups
- Sites
- Assessments, cycles & periods
- ePortfolios
- Notice boards.
- Frog implementation team: Your Frog environment needs a small, but strong and enthusiastic team to ensure if matures and adapts to the needs of the preschool or school. At the end of a year, you may find your team changes depending on staff movement or other priorities - this creates an opportunity for new advocates and experts in Frog.
- Survey your community: Create a poll or form in Frog and survey your staff, student and parent/caregivers. Frog is highly customisable, feedback from these user groups may lead to discussions on how existing features in Frog can be improved, or new features introduced. You may also find there are opportunities for new content to created and shared in Frog, with the outcome being a more engaged and informed community.
- Site enhancement evaluation tool: If reviewing what to do next, it may worth revisiting, or using for the first time Frog education SA's Site evaluation tool. This tool provides site's with a reflective approach to identifying appropriate area(s) of focus for using Frog.
